| Spam Assassin scans the contents of each message before it reaches your Inbox, searching for words, phrases and formats common to Spammers. The search then assigns a score, higher being more likely to be Spam and lower being less likely. You choose what score is allowed to enter your Inbox.
The Spam Box feature of Spam Assassin can be enabled to deliver the messages to a "Spam" folder. This allows you to see any messages it may have caught by mistake.
Because Spam Assassin searches the message itself, rather than an outside source, it cannot catch every message. Spam consisting primarily of images cannot have their contents searched and will almost always get through. Configuration of Spam Assassin is account wide and cannot be customized to individual e-mail addresses.
The three Spam fighting tools, Spam Assassin, Postini and BoxTrapper can all be enabled in your cPanel . It is recommended that you only use one of the three, depending on your needs.
